The wait always seems endless, but… summer is finally here! The constant sunshine doesn’t just bring happiness to people, buoyed by the looming prospect of a vacation – it also makes the vineyards “happy,” too. After coming back to life during spring, the winegrowing landscapes reach their full glory during the summer season and are a real show, even an oasis.
So, it’s the perfect time to plan how to make the most of the long days and time off work. While lounging in a beach chair might be a good way to spend a few hours, why not come up with some summer plans that will turn into unforgettable memories?
Jean Leon’s suggestions for you
Summer is underway and that means it’s time for the return of Hotels de Cinema, the series of events where Jean Leon and some of the terraces at the best hotels in Barcelona “pair” film and wine, the two great passions that define our winery. This year’s series will take place every Thursday between June 20th and July 25th, once again enabling viewers to enjoy screenings of classic movies in truly exceptional spots, always accompanied by a glass of the best wine.
Save the weekend of July 7th-8th as well, when there will be a new edition of Palo Alto Market, the festival that brings together art, design, fashion, gastronomy, and music at the Palo Alto site in Poblenou, also in Barcelona.
On that same weekend, from July 6th to 8th, Vilafranca del Penedès will be the setting for Vijazz Penedès 2019, the big show for the region’s wines, complemented with a jazz festival featuring internationally recognized artists, in what has become an unmissable event for wine and music lovers. Over 40 exhibiting wineries will come together at Vijazz, which will once more offer a full program with a wide range of activities including tastings, pairings, displays, concerts, etc.
If your calendar is already looking full for July or if it will be harder for you to get organized between now and then, in August at Jean Leon we’ll be hosting another edition of our “Noche de estrellas” experience, an event that combines astronomy and wine, coinciding with the Perseids meteor shower. It’s a one-of-a-kind evening with a focus on stars, wine, good food, and music. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Get involved in wine tourism with Jean Leon
With all the suggestions we’ve made, you’ll definitely be able to come up with at least one “wine plan” this summer. But, if you’re looking for more of an experience, that’s something we can also offer at Jean Leon. And we don’t just do wine, either: we create experiences and have a variety of wine tourism activities available that you can enjoy with your partner, family, or friends.
Discover the winemaking secrets behind our wines; do a tour through our vineyard on a Segway, electric scooter, by Nordic walking (or even in a hot air balloon); get a first-hand look at the painstaking winemaking process and explore the real personality of the wines through our guided tastings. Besides all of this, you can always enjoy the relaxed vibe at the winery’s Wine Bar, open from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and on weekends and holidays from 10 am to 2 pm.
As you can see, it will be difficult for you to find an excuse not to add some wine flavor (the good kind) to your summer. Grab your phone, get the dates booked in, and get ready to make a nice toast. Cheers!
