Some may wonder why Jean Leon has such an affinity for the arts, especially film. The short answer: we love cinema. Given our history, we always look to Jean Leon’s relationship with Hollywood and its stars.
The fact that our winery’s founder was friends with the likes of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe has given us a different perspective on and appreciation for the seventh art. We believe in the art form and support our country’s young generation of actors, directors and producers whenever we can.
Seen in this context, it is easier to understand our relationship with the Acadèmia del Cinema Català (Academy of Catalan Cinema). We have supported the institution since the day it was founded. When the management called on us, we invited them in and reached an agreement in less than 5 minutes.
We believe in ambitious projects and are aware that they are often difficult to carry out, particularly given the country’s past and present economic crisis.

We are a guaranteed presence at any and all events organized by the Acadèmia. We provide the wine, the brand and the desire to collaborate on whatever is needed.
For the most recent Gaudí Awards, we invited the Acadèmia to shoot the promotional video starring Rossy de Palma on our estate. It was an excellent opportunity to bring out the enormous Gaudí Award that features prominently in the promo. Yes, we literally brought it out of its “room.” For about three years, it has lived at our winery year round.
It’s big, sure, but we don’t mind. We like it; it keeps us company. As you can imagine, it isn’t easy to find a place for a 6-meter-tall object like that. And so, being the good friends we are, we offered to store it for the Acadèmia’s management. That was three years ago, and we are pleased and proud to do so.
The Gaudí Award is the local equivalent of the Oscar and recognizes the best talents in Catalan cinema. The award celebrates talent, effort and commitment. Three qualities that we at Jean Leon embrace as part of our day-to-day as we strive to keep making better and better wines.
