Catalan Actors Turn Their Hands to the Harvest

This year, we celebrated the 11th edition of the time-honored “Movie Harvest” at Jean Leon, a fun day involving actors and actresses from the Catalan film scene. The guests this year included popular actors such as Peter Vives, Octavi Pujades, Roger Coma, Jordi Díaz, and Ivan Massagué (who is currently taking part in Celebrity MasterChef); the actress Mercè Sampietro, star of the series La Riera (2010-2017), as well as Carlos Cuevas, Júlia Creus, Iñaki Mur and Candela Anton, all of whom feature in Merlí, the successful Catalan TV series that has been bought by Netflix.

The day kicked off at 10 am, when we welcomed the guests with a typical farmer’s breakfast to give everyone an energy boost for the activities that awaited. With full stomachs and equipped with straw hats and shears, everyone headed to the vineyard to harvest Petit Verdot grapes. Once the grapes had made it into the vats, it was time for the thrilling moment the actors and actresses were looking forward to most: the traditional harvester competition. The participants were divided into different teams and had to stomp the harvested grapes to extract as much must as possible before the time was up. The winner of the competition was the team consisting of Júlia Creus, Carlos Cuevas, Albert Salazar, and Sergio Freijo, which received a magnum of Jean Leon Vinya Le Havre Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2000 from winery director Mireia Torres.

A lunch with exceptional wines

Jean Leon’s Movie Harvest pays tribute to the link between the winery’s founder Jean Leon and the world of cinema in 1950s and 1960s Hollywood, and is an event that has become unmissable for Catalan actors and actresses.
