HIGHLIGHTS JEAN LEON
ViART – Great success of its 3rd edition
Last 22nd July the third edition of ViArt was held, as an event at which the winery pairs its wines with an artistic discipline every year. After painting and theatre, this timedance was the theme. International dancers Marta Rieraand David Novoa and the amateur group of the AssumptaTrens dance school from Vilafranca del Penedès gave several performances in a matchless setting.
Dance and wine were ways to form a fusion of Jean Leon with culture, making ViArt a highly successful benchmark event.
Jean Leon introduces an experimental wine range with X-15, the winery's first Xarel·lo
X-15 is Jean Leon's first wine to be made exclusively from the indigenous Xarel·lo variety. The launch of X-15 in a numbered limited edition of only 6000 bottles is a tribute to the Penedès, the wine region where Jean Leon realized his dream.
This exclusive organic wine originates from 25-year-old vines growing at an elevation of 225 meters on the estate. The grapes are carefully selected and picked by hand. X-15 marks the debut of Jean Leon's experimental wine range, which is targeted at high-end restaurants and specialized stores, as well as Club Jean Leon members.
Our ‘Book Packaging', awarded by Liderpack'15 in the category ‘Packaging Premium Pack’!
With this pack, we expect consumers to immerse themselves in the fascinating story of the founder of the winery, who board as a stowaway bound for the USA and later become good confident of Frank Sinatra, James Dean or Marilyn Monroe. When opening the cover, the 'reader' discovers 2 of our Single Vineyard Wines and the documentary ‘A Man, A Time, A Wine’.
The sold-out 2nd edition of ViArt was a resounding success!
On August 3rd, we celebrated the 2nd edition of this yearly event where we pair our wines with an artistic discipline. Theater was this year's guest star, featuring two plays—Papeles and El Método Zúñiga—performed by 3 young, up-and-coming actors of the Gracias a Ramón company. Over 80 people attended the event during which they also enjoyed a cocktail dinner paired with our Single Vineyard Wines and live jazz, as well as joining Mireia Torres on a nocturnal tour of the winery.
3055 Merlot·Petit Verdot: the most popular red wine at Vijazz 2015!
During the 9th edition of ViJazz held from July 3–5, the public opinion research company The Whatsons conducted a survey of the most popular still and sparkling wines among those attending the event. A total of 565 people participated in the survey by responding to the question “Of all the still or sparkling wines you tasted, which one did you like the best?” And our 3055 Merlot·Petit Verdot received the most votes in the red wine category!
Jean Leon at the 1st Nit del Gourmet Català
June 15, 2015–The event organized by the Clúster Gourmet de Catalunya, of which we are a member, drew over 400 visitors to Barcelona's Born Cultural Center, including producers, clients and agents working in Catalonia's gourmet food sector. Our wines were very well received amid the 17th-century setting of the market. Jordi Bort, director of INCANVI, attended the event, as did regional minister Felip Puig, who presented the Gourmet Català de l'Any Award to the TV3 program “COLLITA PROPIA.”
Cinematic sunsets on Ibiza with Jean Leon!
The luxuriously laidback Amante Beach Club kicks off its outdoor cinema season. Our 3055 range is the chosen co-star for these movie nights, which happen every Tuesday at 11pm from May through September. Nestled into the hills overlooking the Sol D'en Serra bay, "A Night With The Stars" includes the movie, a day bed, popcorn and a glass of 3055 Chardonnay, Rosé or Merlot·Petit Verdot. Ready for some magic?
Jean Leon dresses in white!
The intense snowstorms in early February left us with images like this one. A beautiful snowy landscape that lends to good crops, just as the proverb goes: “a year of snow, crops will grow”. At these low temperatures, the stocks go into a vegetative rest that stops all sap movement allowing the plant to build up more strength for the spring. These conditions also reduce phytosanitary problems and help hydrate the soil without over-saturating it.
We snuck into the 7th edition of the Gaudí Awards!
The team of the film “10.000 Km”, which several months ago took part in our cinematic harvest “Verema de Cine”, was hailed by the Catalan Film Academy in 5 of the most prestigious categories: Best Film not in the Catalan Language, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Natalia Tena, and Best Actor in a Leading Role for David Verdaguer. Jean Leon was also there, in the VIP room, where the nominated actors and actresses and the public figures attending the event were invited to enjoy a glass of Jean Leon Vinya Le Havre before the gala.
Our corporate video “A Man, A Time, A Wine” awarded at the Most Festival 2014
The judges of the Collita Section of the 4th celebration of the Most Festival, the International Wine and Cava Film Festival, honoured us with the International Projection Award “for the work that best promotes the international projection of wine and cava.” A 7-minute journey -also available on Youtube- that goes back forty years in time to offer a glimpse of the events, stories and decisions that defined and continue to define the personality of our wines. The MF'14 boasted an audience of 3500 viewers, consolidating itself as an important event on the national film festival calendar.
We celebrated the seventh edition of Verema de Cine, our cinematic harvest!
With this yearly event, we pay tribute to the deep ties between Jean Leon and the world of cinema. Natalia Tena and Carlos Marques-Marcet, director of 10.000km, one of the three films selected to represent Spain at the Oscars, were among the 20 artists who competed in the "grape-stomping contest" to win a Magnum of Vinya Le Havre 2007. And to top it off, Mireia Torres gave a sneak preview of the new vintage of Vinya Palau 2011, which will be released this month.
The ViArt premiere
Close to a hundred people came to the very first edition of ViArt, an original live painting event paired with wine, in which renowned artists represented on their canvases the beautiful countryside that surrounds our winery. Participants were also able to enjoy a night-time tour of the winery guided by our oenologist Xavier Rubires, as well as a tasting of our single estate wines and a cocktail dinner, accompanied by live music from our Jazz Leon repertory.
First-ever Speed Tasting event in Spain
More than a hundred people participated in this exclusive event, the first of its kind in Spain, featuring the terroir wines of Qalidès, an association comprising thirteen wineries in the Penedès and currently headed by Mireia Torres. The event consisted of a game staged around wine and music. Participants were assigned to one of thirteen tables, and the winemakers had 6 minutes to explain the characteristics of their wines. When the music began to play, the participants changed tables.
